Just Like Mona Lisa Manga Gets Anime Adaptation by Studio SHAFT

The long-awaited news has finally arrived: The Just Like Mona Lisa manga is getting a TV anime adaptation by SHAFT, a studio known for its visual style. According to Anime News Network, the first trailer and voice cast will be introduced at a special panel during the AnimagiC event in Cologne, Germany on August 1st.
The manga is written and illustrated by Tatsuya Matsuki and has been serialized in Monthly Shonen Magazine since 2022. The story follows a young girl who is fascinated by the Mona Lisa painting and encounters supernatural events as she tries to unravel the mystery of its enigmatic smile. The series has received great acclaim, especially for Matsuki's detailed and atmospheric artwork.
SHAFT studio is known for its visual innovation and experimental storytelling with productions such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Bakemonogatari, and March Comes in Like a Lion. This adaptation is significant as it gives the studio another opportunity to bring an artistic manga to the screen.
