Kagurabachi Anime Breaks Records: First Trailer Reaches 6 Million Views in 24 Hours

One of the biggest phenomena in the Weekly Shonen Jump world in recent times, Kagurabachi, has made an entry into the anime world like a literal storm. The first trailer, shared following the official announcement on April 27, 2026, surpassed the 6 million view mark in just 24 hours, proving the immense anticipation of its fanbase. With over 5 million views on the social media platform X and nearly a million on YouTube, this video highlights just how popular the series has become on a global scale.
The production of the anime is being handled by Studio Cypic, known for projects such as Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and The Summer Hikaru Died. In the director's chair sits Tetsuya Takeuchi, the name behind the legendary Rock Lee vs Gaara fight in the Naruto series. The lead character, Chihiro Rokuhira, will be voiced by talented voice actor Taihi Kimura. The anime's release date has been announced as April 2027.
Created by Takeru Hokazono, Kagurabachi became an internet "meme" from its very first chapters when it began serialization in September 2023, but it quickly proved worthy of that attention with its story quality and artwork. Winning the Next Manga Award in 2024, the series is now considered one of Shonen Jump's strongest new-generation brands with over 4 million copies sold. Fans have been eagerly waiting to see how the manga's dark atmosphere and impressive sword-fighting scenes would be translated to the screen.
The story follows the bloody journey of young Chihiro Rokuhira, who seeks to avenge his father and retrieve stolen enchanted swords. Wielding Enten, one of the seven legendary swords forged by his father, Chihiro seeks justice in a dangerous world filled with sorcerers and yakuza groups. These massive viewership numbers have once again confirmed that Kagurabachi is not just an internet joke, but a serious hit following in the footsteps of modern classics like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.
