Kaiju No. 8: First Trailer Released for Narumi's Week at Work, Starting September 5

The Kaiju No. 8 universe is expanding with a new anime project. The first anime trailer for the series' spin-off, Kaiju No. 8: Narumi's Week at Work, was released. The production, which will consist of four episodes, is set to meet audiences on September 5. Thus, the first Kaiju No. 8 anime project offering a character-focused side adventure alongside the main story has come to life.
As the name suggests, the spin-off anime follows one week in the life of Gen Narumi, one of the powerful captains of the Japanese Anti-Kaiju Defense Force (JAKDF). Narumi, whom manga readers know well from the later parts of the series, stands out for fans who want to see more details about his character. The first trailer showcases both moments from Narumi's missions and the signature high-paced action scenes of Kaiju No. 8.
Kaiju No. 8, written by Naoya Matsumoto, has been published on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform since July 2020. The anime adaptation of the series, produced by Production I.G, aired in 2024 with a 12-episode first season and received great attention. After the first season, a second season was announced, and this new spin-off is considered an important step in expanding the series' world. The manga, which reaches millions of readers digitally, stands out in the industry with its global fan base and the visual quality of its anime adaptation.
This four-episode production, focused on Narumi's own story, aims to keep the fan base engaged by giving space to characters who appear more limited in the main series. The spin-off's release starting September 5 is interpreted as Narumi being prepared for a larger role in the continuation of the main story. This new project is expected to attract both existing fans of the series and new viewers to the Kaiju No. 8 universe.
