Kantai Collection Developer C2 Kikan Announces New Simulation RPG Game Ki-gō Keikaku

Exciting news for Kantai Collection (KanColle) fans! The main development team behind the series, C2 Kikan, has announced that they are working on a new simulation RPG project. Titled Ki-gō Keikaku (Project Ki-go), this new title will be available to players on both PC and mobile platforms. Currently in the early stages of development, the game aims to offer a deep experience by blending strategy and role-playing elements.
C2 Kikan is known for Kantai Collection, which entered our lives in 2013 and quickly became a global phenomenon. Depicting World War II ships as anthropomorphic "ship girls" (Kanmusu), this series has created a massive ecosystem not only in the gaming world but also through anime, manga, and various merchandise. The team's new project, Ki-gō Keikaku, is seen as a new fruit of this deep experience. It is a matter of curiosity how they will blend their expertise in the strategy genre with this new IP (intellectual property).
The project's name, "Ki-gō," is a term in Japanese often used for technical symbols or special operation plans. This provides clues that the game may again have a military or technical theme. C2 Kikan's leader and creative director, Yoshinori Kaneko (Zenith), is known for his close bond with the community. Fans have already begun debating whether this new game will have a connection to the KanColle universe or if it will offer a completely independent story.
From an industry perspective, C2 Kikan announcing a major new project on its own shows the studio's desire to expand its independence and creative vision. Following the 2022 release of the Kantai Collection: Itsuka Ano Umi de anime, this announcement indicates that the team's roadmap for 2026 and beyond will be quite busy. Although the game's release date has not yet been clarified, more gameplay details and character reveals are expected at events in the coming months.
