Keroro and Gundam Officially Come Together for the First Time: Special Illustrations Released for New Film

After a long hiatus, the Keroro series returns with a massive collaboration. The new film titled Shin Gekijōban Keroro Gunsō: Fukkatsu shite Sokkō Chikyū Metsubō no Kiki de Arimasu! will be released in Japan on June 26, 2025. The most notable announcement before the film is the first official collaboration between Keroro and Mobile Suit Gundam.
As part of this meaningful collaboration, Keroro creator Mine Yoshizaki and Gundam's legendary character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko prepared special illustrations. Scenes featuring the Keroro team alongside Gundam sparked both nostalgia and excitement among fans. Additionally, a clip from the film itself was released; in the clip, a Gundam suddenly appears before the Keroro team, showing viewers just how real this collaboration is.
In fact, the Keroro series has been known for years for its countless references to Gundam. Many scenes in the anime and manga used Gundam's iconic mecha designs and story elements blended with comedy. However, such an official collaboration is happening for the first time. Moreover, the direct involvement of Yasuhiko, the character designer for Gundam's first animation Mobile Suit Gundam (1979), makes the event even more special.
The new film will be the first cinematic release of the Keroro series since its last film in 2014, Keroro Gunsō: The Dragon Warrior. The series' last television series ended in 2011. After about 11 years of silence, this film holds great significance, especially for nostalgia lovers. With the film, Keroro's humorous world will meet Gundam's serious and epic atmosphere. Fans eagerly await to see how these two massive series will harmonize.
The illustrations and film clip have already caused a huge stir on social media. Keroro and Gundam fans are greeting this collaboration with comments like 'our childhood dream has come true.' New trailers and promotional materials for the film are expected to be released in the coming days. It is also rumored that this collaboration could extend to commercial products, games, and broadcasting rights. But for now, all eyes are on this exciting production set to release on June 26.
