Keroro Returns: New Trailer and Lawson Collaboration Released for 20th Anniversary Film
Keroro Platoon (Sgt. Frog) returns with a new film celebrating its 20th anniversary. The production titled "New Movie☆Keroro Platoon: Resurrection and Instant World Crisis!" (Shin Gekijōban☆Keroro Gunsō: Fukkatsu Shite Sokkō Chikyū Metsubō no Kiki de Arimasu!) was released in Japan on June 26, 2026. To promote the film, a special campaign started at Lawson stores, and a new trailer showing the platoon admiring Gundam models was also released.
The Lawson campaign started on June 23 and includes special products where the film's characters transform into the famous Karaage-kun chicken pieces. Keroro, Tamama, Giroro, Kururu, and Dororo appear on the packaging of this snack that has become Lawson's mascot. The campaign also includes film-themed drinks and special gifts. Lawson is a chain that has collaborated with many anime in the past; such campaigns are quite common in the Japanese retail sector.
Meanwhile, the new trailer titled "Resurrection PV with Kero! in Reiwa" humorously showcases Keroro and his team's love for Gundam plastic models (Gunpla). The trailer also features the opening theme song "Mata Kaettekita KERO! to MARCH" performed by singer ano and comedian Soshina, heard for the first time. The song reflects the film's energetic and nostalgic atmosphere. The series created by Mine Yoshizaki gained a large fan base with the manga starting in 2004 and the subsequent anime adaptation. The new film is notable for being the first theatrical production since the last film in 2014.
Celebrating the series' 20th anniversary, this film aims to bring back the original audience and introduce Keroro's absurd space frog antics to new generations. At the end of the trailer, the question 'Is the world in danger again?' arises, and fans are eagerly wondering how Keroro's home invasion plans will turn out this time.
