Another Big Name Joins Kill Blue Anime's Voice Cast: Ikumi Hasegawa to Voice Mai Otohime

Another name has been added to the highly anticipated voice cast of Kill Blue anime. In the adaptation of Tadayoshi Fujimaki's manga of the same name, experienced voice actor Ikumi Hasegawa (Frieren, Spy x Family) will bring the character Mai Otohime to life. This news was announced to fans via an official announcement in Japan.
Along with this, a new "daily life visual" for the anime was also released. The visual captures a cheerful moment of Juu Oogami and other members of the Home Economics Club cooking together in the school kitchen. This image highlights not only the series' action-packed scenes but also the warm relationships between the characters.
Tadayoshi Fujimaki is a manga artist who gained worldwide fame with Kuroko's Basketball. Kill Blue is his new series that started in Shonen Jump in 2023. The story begins when Oogami, a high school student and assassin, is forced to enroll in school and finds himself in the school's Home Economics Club. This absurd comedy, oscillating between assassination and school life, quickly gained popularity.
The anime team had previously announced that Nobunaga Shimazaki (Tanjiro, Eren) would voice the main character Oogami. Ikumi Hasegawa will voice Mai Otohime, who plays an important role as Oogami's classmate and club member. Hasegawa has previously given voice to iconic characters such as Fern in Frieren and Anya in Spy x Family.
The anime adaptation of Kill Blue does not yet have a clear release date. However, the project is in production and is expected to air in 2025. Being Fujimaki's second major anime adaptation after Kuroko's Basketball, it increases interest in the series. With new voice actors and visuals accelerating the promotional process, the production is preparing to appeal to both old fans of Fujimaki and new viewers.
