New Stills from Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to: Shori Sato in the Voice Acting Booth!

A new addition is joining the ranks of anime productions known for their emotional stories. As the countdown continues for Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to (You, Fireworks, and a Promise), a film produced in collaboration between Studio Colorido and Shin-Ei Animation, exciting updates have arrived from Shori Sato, who voices the lead character Makoto Natsume. New photos showing the recording studio (afureko) sessions of Sato, a member of the popular music group timelesz, and a special video message for his fans have been released.
Scheduled for release in Japan on July 17, 2026, the film holds great significance as it marks Shori Sato's first lead voice acting role in an anime production. In the video message, Sato emphasized the "new life" (shin-seikatsu) period that begins in the spring in Japan, offering words of support to fans starting new schools or jobs. The famous idol noted that the internal transformation experienced by his character, Makoto, throughout the film will be inspiring for anyone turning a new page in their life.
The film's story is based on a popular light novel written by Kaori Mado and illustrated by Akamoku. The plot centers on Makoto, a high school student living in Tokyo with poor social skills, and Aki Hayama (voiced by Nanoka Hara), a popular girl at school. What brings the two together is a mysterious fireworks painting dating back 81 years and an unfinished promise behind it. The story reaches its climax in the enchanting atmosphere of the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival, one of Japan's most famous festivals.
Directed by Kei Suzuki, known for Tower of God Season 2, the production has already drawn attention with its visual quality. The animations, brought to life by SynergySP and The Answer Studio, aim to bring the excitement of the festival and the emotional depth of the characters to the big screen. The presence of Nanoka Hara, known for her performance in Suzume, proves that the film has a strong voice cast to carry its emotional weight. Fans expect this production, which will hit theaters this summer, to be one of the most impressive romantic dramas of recent years.
