A Boundary-Pushing Collaboration Between King of Prism and Sharknado: A Time-Travel Themed Mega Screening Is Coming

One of the most energetic productions in the anime world, King of Prism, and the cult B-movie series Sharknado are signing off on a collaboration that will surprise their fans. According to the announcement made on May 12, 2026, King of Prism -Your Endless Call- Miinna Kirameki! Prism☆Tours and The Last Sharknado: It's About Time (known as Sharknado 6: Last Chainsaw in Japan) will appear before audiences in a joint "double-feature" event. This special screening, which will take place on June 7, 2026, at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas in Tokyo, aims to celebrate the "time travel" theme that lies at the heart of both productions.
So, what connects an idol anime with shark storms? The inspiration for the event was a humorous column written by Eiga Natalie writer "Shark Movie Rookie," who argues that all roads somehow lead to shark movies. While idols in the King of Prism series perform acts that transcend space and time, in Sharknado 6, our hero Fin Shepard travels to different periods in history to stop the shark invasion. Both productions appeal to a similar sense of entertainment with their absurd humor, high energy, and "over-the-top" dramatic scenes that draw the audience in.
What makes this event truly special is that it will be held in the "Cheer Screening" format, known as Ouen Jouei in Japan. Since King of Prism began in 2016 as a spin-off of the Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live series by Tatsunoko Production, it has been considered a pioneer of this interactive culture where viewers use lightsticks in the cinema and cheer for the characters.
