Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo Anime Begins: Intriguing Details from the First Episode Shared!

Akira Konno’s highly acclaimed and award-winning manga Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo (Kujima Sings, the House Crumbles) is finally coming to television screens. Ahead of the grand premiere on April 9, 2026, the production team shared the summary and exciting preview images of the first episode with fans. The first episode begins with middle school first-year student Arata Kouda encountering a strange, bird-like creature searching for coins under a vending machine.
This mysterious creature, Kujima, draws attention not only with its appearance but also with its appetite and natural communication with humans. The story takes on a whole new dimension when Arata invites this hungry, homeless guest into his home. The Kouda family home has a very tense atmosphere due to the older brother Suguru, who is preparing for university entrance exams and has become a shut-in. However, Kujima effectively "crashing" at the house and deciding to stay until spring seems set to radically change the family's dynamics.
The project, brought to life by Studio Hibari, is directed by Noriyuki Nomata, known for works such as Assassination Classroom and The Case Study of Vanitas. Character designs are entrusted to Sakurako Mitsuhashi, while the series' music is composed by Manami Kakudo. The voice cast features Yuria Kozuki as Kujima, and the famous voice actor Ayumu Murase as Arata. Additionally, the older brother Suguru is voiced by Yohei Azakami.
Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo was serialized in Monthly Shonen Sunday (Gessan) magazine between 2021 and 2024 and won the U-NEXT award at the 2022 Next Manga Awards. It is a production that has proven its quality by ranking high on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! lists. If you enjoy surreal humor, family bonds, and the "weird roommate" theme, we recommend you don't miss this anime, which is one of the most original works of this spring season. Kujima's stay throughout the winter will both make you laugh and warm your heart.
