The final results of the official second global popularity poll for One Piece have been announced, and the series' main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, took first place in fan votes worldwide. According to results reported by Anime Corner, the full list of the top 30 characters was officially revealed. Luffy also topped the first global poll in 2021; thus, this year's victory cemented his title as the series' most beloved character for the second consecutive time.
The first One Piece global popularity poll was held in 2021 under the name "World Top 100" and determined the favorites of the series' worldwide fan base. The second poll saw a large turnout; the results were announced at the One Piece Day event held on July 21, 2024. Eiichiro Oda's manga, published weekly since 1997, along with its anime adaptation that began in 1999, has become one of the greatest cornerstones of modern anime and manga culture.
In the top 10, Luffy was followed by Roronoa Zoro, Trafalgar Law, Nami, Sanji, Portgas D. Ace, Nico Robin, Shanks, Yamato, and Sabo. From the main crew, Usopp, Chopper, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe also found their place in the top 30. The high rankings of characters like Law and Ace in particular reveal the impact of side characters on the fan base and the strength of the series' character diversity.
Such polls not only demonstrate fans' dedication to the series but also provide Oda and his team with global feedback on which characters stand out. The results can be decisive in special illustrations, side stories, figures, and other merchandise. One Piece fans are now eagerly wondering what role these popular characters will play in the story's final saga. Luffy's victory shows how strong the fans' love for the main hero still is in the series' final stretch.
