Madhouse's Original Anime Film 'ghost – end of night' to Premiere on February 11, 2027

Legendary studio Madhouse (Death Note, One Punch Man season 1) has released the first teaser visuals for its long-in-development original anime film "ghost – end of night" and announced the release date as February 11, 2027. This stands out as one of the studio's biggest original film projects in recent years.
The group hitsujibungaku, which will be responsible for the film's music, was also announced with the reveal. The band, one of the rising stars of the Japanese rock scene in recent years, is preparing a melancholic and powerful soundtrack suited to the film's atmosphere. Additionally, the film's manga adaptation will begin serialization on August 4, 2026 (about six months before the film). This way, fans can explore the basic outline of the story through the manga before watching the film.
Madhouse making an original anime film has created excitement in the industry. The studio had focused more on adaptation projects in recent years (Overlord, The Promised Neverland season 1). However, 'ghost – end of night' is being developed entirely by the studio's own creative team. Although the director and screenwriter lineup has not yet been officially announced, it is rumored that experienced names from Madhouse are behind the project.
As the name suggests, the film focuses on a ghost story. The subtitle 'end of night' promises a supernatural thriller and drama. Combining Madhouse's visual quality with hitsujibungaku's music, the production is poised to become one of the most notable anime films of 2027. With the manga adaptation starting in August 2026, fans will have the chance to step into the film's world earlier. New character introductions and trailers are expected in the coming months.
