Grand Gala for The Irregular at Magic High School: Yotsuba Succession Arc Film: Tatsuya and Miyuki’s Fate Changes

The Yotsuba Succession Arc (Yotsuba Keishou-hen) film, long-awaited by fans of the popular anime series The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei), was released across Japan on May 8, 2026. To celebrate the film's release, a special gala event was held on May 9 at the Shinjuku Wald 9 cinema in Tokyo. The event was attended by Yuichi Nakamura (Tatsuya Shiba), Saori Hayami (Miyuki Shiba), and Chiwa Saito (Maya Yotsuba), who voice the series' main characters, along with the famous artist LiSA, who performed the film's theme song.
Taking the stage at the gala, Yuichi Nakamura and Saori Hayami spoke about the deep bond that has come from bringing these characters to life for over a decade. The duo expressed that they have developed an unspoken understanding (silent communication) with each other when voicing scenes. In particular, Chiwa Saito, who voices the mysterious leader of the Yotsuba family, Maya Yotsuba, received great applause for her performance in the film. The actors pointed out how critical Maya-sama's hand gestures and elegant yet authoritative stance were in reflecting the character's power.
Yotsuba Succession Arc is based on the 16th volume of Tsutomu Sato's original light novel series and represents a major turning point in the story's progression. In this arc, shocking truths about the Shiba siblings' true status within the Yotsuba family and the nature of their bond come to light. Miyuki being nominated as the next leader of the family completely changes both the pressure on Tatsuya and the political balance of the series. For fans, this film is not just an action spectacle, but also a character-driven journey.
