MAPPA Celebrates Its 15th Year with a Grand Exhibition: MAPPA EXPO 15th Anniversary

MAPPA, established in 2011 and quickly becoming one of the most respected animation studios in the industry, is preparing to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a special event. The exhibition called "MAPPA EXPO 15th Anniversary" will meet art lovers at YURAKUCHO MUSEUM in Tokyo from September 16 to December 7.
In this exhibition, the studio will bring together original production materials, character designs, storyboards, and concept drawings of its globally acclaimed works such as Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga, and Yuri on Ice. It is also stated that there will be a special documentary area covering MAPPA's founding story, in-studio processes, and employees' memories.
MAPPA's 15-year journey stands out not only with commercial successes but also with the innovative animation techniques it brought to the industry. The studio's founder, Masao Maruyama, after working for many years at Madhouse, founded MAPPA and opened the door to independent and creative projects. Particularly in recent years, works like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man have enabled MAPPA to gain a global fanbase.
Limited-edition products specially prepared for the exhibition will include replicas, poster sets, and art books from MAPPA's most beloved series. Additionally, the event will feature interactive areas where important scenes from the studio's past to present are recreated. Pre-sale of tickets will begin in August; fans are advised to make early reservations due to the possibility of sell-out from high demand.
MAPPA EXPO 15th Anniversary is not just an exhibition; it may also contain hints about the studio's future projects. In recent months, MAPPA has announced new works such as Zombie Land Saga and Kaiju No. 8. Throughout the exhibition, the studio is expected to meet fans with upcoming announcements, special panels, and live streams. This event is an unmissable opportunity to celebrate the current state of the anime industry and MAPPA's leadership on this path.
