Countdown for Marriage Toxin Anime: New Details Shared at AnimeJapan 2026
AnimeJapan 2026, one of the most prestigious events in the anime world, is hosting major announcements again this year. At the event held at Tokyo Big Sight, a special panel was organized for the highly anticipated Marriage Toxin anime. The series' lead voice actors, Haruki Ishiya (Hikaru Gero) and Shion Wakayama (Mei Kinosaki), met with fans on stage and shared exciting details about the production process and character dynamics of the series.
Adapted from the popular manga written by Joumyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda, the series draws attention with its unconventional premise. The story revolves around Hikaru Gero, a poison master and heir to a clan of assassins that has operated for centuries. To prevent his sister from being forced into marriage and to ensure his clan's lineage continues, Gero forms an unexpected partnership with his target, the marriage fraudster Mei Kinosaki. Described as a "marriage hunting war," this production blends an assassin's quest to find love with action-packed scenes.
The technical staff of the anime also highlights the quality of the project. The project, brought to life by Studio Bones Film (My Hero Academia, Gachiakuta), is directed by Motonobu Hori. The music for the series is composed by Taisei Iwasaki and yuma yamaguchi, known for the film BELLE. During the panel, it was also reiterated that the anime's opening theme is "Kill or Kiss" performed by Yurina Hirate, and the ending theme is "Shake Na Baby" by AKASAKI.
Marriage Toxin has achieved great success since it began publication on the Shonen Jump+ platform in 2022. The manga was even recommended by industry giants such as Jujutsu Kaisen author Gege Akutami and Demon Slayer author Koyoharu Gotouge.
