Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun TV Anime Announced: Delinquent Romance Behind the Glasses!

Great news for fans of romantic comedy and high school life themed productions! It has been officially announced that the Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun (English title: Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent Romance) manga, written by Naruki and boasting a large fan base, will be adapted into a TV anime. Along with the announcement, mangaka Naruki shared a special illustration and a thank-you message for fans to celebrate this special development.
The story of the series revolves around Hiroka Momose, who hates delinquents because she was bullied by them in middle school. Wanting a fresh start in high school, Momose joins the school's "Help Club" and meets Dan Ichikura, the only member. It turns out that Ichikura, who appears to be a kind, model student with glasses at first glance, is actually a former delinquent (yankee) trying to maintain his image. The duo's relationship, built on these contrasts and filled with both humor and emotion, forms the heart of the story.
Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun began its publication in January 2021 in Kodansha's Bessatsu Friend magazine. Although it was initially planned as a short-term series, it returned to serialization in June 2022 due to high demand from readers. As of December 2025, the manga has reached 10 volumes in Japan, and the 11th volume is expected to be released on May 13, 2026. The series has also reached a wide international audience through Seven Seas Entertainment and the digital platform K MANGA in the West.
This anime adaptation has become a source of great excitement for fans of the "opposites attract" and "gap moe" (the surprising difference between a character's appearance and personality) themes that have gained popularity in recent years. Although details such as the animation studio, voice cast, or exact release date have not yet been clarified, the series' success of selling over 900,000 copies raises expectations regarding the quality of the anime. Fans are now turning their eyes to the news that will come from the production team.
