Migawari Reijo Light Anime Adaptation Coming in July 2026: First Trailer and Voice Cast Announced
The long-awaited news for fans of the popular romantic fantasy series Migawari Reijo o Sukutta no wa Reikoku Mujihina Kori no Oji no Ai Deshita (The Love of the Cruel and Heartless Ice Prince Who Saved the Substitute Lady) has finally arrived. With the announcement made on the series' official website, it has been confirmed that the production will premiere on TV Kanagawa in July 2026. The first teaser trailer released provides clues about the visual style and atmosphere of the series while also revealing the names who will bring the main characters to life.
The series features well-known names from the anime world in the lead roles. Miku Ito, whom we know from The Quintessential Quintuplets series, will voice our unfortunate heroine Katrina. In the role of the "Ice Prince" Clarence, who will accompany her, we will hear Yohei Azakami, who gained great acclaim with Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. The production is directed by Yusuke Morishita, and the animation process is being carried out in collaboration with IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with support from StainLab.
One of the elements that makes this adaptation special is the chosen "light anime" format. This technique, introduced to the industry in 2022 by Dai Nippon Printing (DNP), is based directly on manga panels, unlike traditional animation. Created by adding movement, depth, voice acting, and sound effects to manga drawings in a digital environment, this format both reduces production costs and reflects the spirit of the original manga art more faithfully on screen.
