Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express Film Rereleases with Extended Scenes

Yōhei Kameyama's highly acclaimed CG anime film Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express is returning with a new version that will excite fans. The film, enriched with additional scenes, will be released in Japanese cinemas on June 12. These special screenings will be available in MX4D, 4DX, and traditional 2D formats to offer viewers a more immersive experience.
Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express was originally a cinematic compilation of a 12-episode short CG anime series that aired on Tokyo MX and YouTube from July to September 2025. The series' first theatrical cut was released in Japan on February 6, 2026. The genius behind this project is independent creator Yōhei Kameyama, who took on almost every role as director, writer, producer, character designer, modeler, animator, and editor. This series, a continuation of Kameyama's 2022 original net animation Milky☆Highway, which went viral with over 6.7 million views, was produced entirely by his own means using Blender.
The film's plot begins when superhuman Chiharu and cyborg Makina, arrested for violating space traffic laws, are sentenced to clean an old interstellar train, the Milky☆Subway. However, when the train suddenly launches into deep space, they find themselves in a chaotic and comical adventure with other misfit prisoners. Although the phrase "Galactic Express" in its title bears a resemblance to Kenji Miyazawa's classic novel Ginga Tetsudō no Yoru (Night on the Galactic Railroad), Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express is a completely original work.
