Mobile Police Patlabor EZY: File 2 Trailer Released! Release Date Announced

Hello mecha enthusiasts! The long-awaited news regarding Mobile Police Patlabor EZY, the new project from the legendary Mobile Police Patlabor series, has finally arrived. The official trailer and key visual for File 2, the second installment of the series' three-part theatrical release plan, have been shared. Fans in Japan will have the chance to watch this new adventure on the big screen on August 14, 2026.
This new "File" brings together episodes 4, 5, and 6 of the series. In the released trailer, we get a closer look at the dynamic relationship between our main characters Towa Kuga and Kippei Atori, while also seeing the new threats faced by Special Vehicles Section 2 (SV2). Set in 2030s Japan, a time when artificial intelligence and automation are at their peak, the story focuses on the fight against crime by human-controlled Labors (giant robots) that are now starting to be considered "antiques." The team operates with the AV-98Plus Ingram, an updated version of the classic model, in this new era.
The names behind the series constitute a true "dream team." Members of the HEADGEAR group, who created the original series, hold key roles in this project as well. Original mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi sits in the director's chair this time, while the screenplay is penned by the legendary Kazunori Ito. The music features the signature of Kenji Kawai, whom we know from Ghost in the Shell and the original Patlabor series. Animation production is handled by the J.C.STAFF studio.
When Patlabor began in 1988, it revolutionized the mecha genre with its realistic police procedural approach and character-driven narrative. Mobile Police Patlabor EZY continues this legacy.
