New Trailer for the Final Film of the Mononoke Trilogy "Hebigami": Aina The End and Release Date Announced!

One of the most unique productions in the anime world, Mononoke, is preparing to complete its journey on the big screen with a magnificent finale. The second trailer released for Mononoke the Movie: Chapter III – Hebigami (Snake God), the third and final installment of the planned film trilogy, has both offered fans a visual feast and brought long-awaited details to light. The film, which will be released in Japan on May 29, 2026, will focus on the most challenging and dark case of the mysterious Medicine Seller (Kusuriuri).
Along with the new trailer, it was confirmed that the famous artist Aina The End, who is identified with the musical identity of the series, has returned for the final film. The artist, who also performed the theme songs for the previous films in the trilogy, Karakasa and Hinezumi, will accompany the emotional finale of the story this time. Additionally, new names joining the voice cast were announced; master voice actor Miyuki Sawashiro will bring to life the character of the "Third Empress," who holds the greatest secret of the Ooku (harem). In the lead role, the iconic Medicine Seller character is once again voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya.
The history of the Mononoke series began in 2006 as part of the Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales anthology and turned into a phenomenon with the 12-episode TV series in 2007. The production, directed by Kenji Nakamura, is known for its unique visuals that blend the traditional Japanese 'ukiyo-e' art style with modern animation. This film trilogy, launched in honor of the series' 15th anniversary after years of silence, was meticulously prepared by the EOTA studio under Twin Engine. The first two films proved the timelessness of the series by attracting great attention both at the Japanese box office and on global platforms like Netflix.
The final film, Hebigami, takes the story into the depths of the Ooku, the heart of the Edo period. This time, the Medicine Seller will face a terrifying curse born from centuries of hatred and sorrow, rooted in the origins of the Ooku. Fans are counting down the days to see how he will reveal the three essential elements needed to destroy a spirit: "Form" (Katachi), "Truth" (Makoto), and "Reason" (Kotowari) for the last time. This finale is not just the end of a trilogy, but also a farewell to one of the most artistic projects in anime history.
