Mononoke the Movie: Major Collaborations Announced for Hebigami: The Final Film Arrives on May 29!

Mononoke, one of the most unique productions in the world of cult anime, is preparing to greet its fans with the final installment of its film trilogy. In honor of Mononoke the Movie: Chapter 3 - Hebigami (Snake God), which will be released in Japan on May 29, 2026, comprehensive collaborations have been announced with major names such as Animate, Seven Net Shopping, the Tokyo Red Cross Blood Center, Odakyu ONE, and ROUND1. These campaigns aim to heighten the excitement by offering fans exclusive merchandise and events ahead of the film's release.
The campaign conducted with the Tokyo Red Cross Blood Center is particularly noteworthy, as fans who donate blood will receive limited-edition gifts exclusive to the film. Meanwhile, the popular entertainment center ROUND1 will bring the mystical world of the Medicine Seller (Kusuriuri) into daily life with film-themed drinks and karaoke rooms. Exclusive collectible figures and illustrated merchandise will be available for purchase through Animate and Seven Net. Such large-scale campaigns have become a traditional celebration in Japan prior to the release of big-budget anime films.
The Mononoke series first entered our lives in 2006 as part of the Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales anthology, before evolving into a legendary 12-episode series in 2007. Directed by Kenji Nakamura, the series revolutionized the anime world with its unique visual style, reminiscent of Japanese paper (washi) texture and inspired by ukiyo-e art. Announced as a 15th-anniversary project, this film trilogy will reach an epic conclusion with Hebigami, following the 2024 film Karakasa and the 2025 film Hinezumi.
In this final chapter of the trilogy, the Medicine Seller character is voiced by the famous voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya. Set in the Ooku, the women's quarters of Edo Castle, the story revolves around a 150-year-old dark secret and the Snake God, the most powerful enemy the series has seen to date. Fans are expecting both a visual feast and an emotional conclusion to the Medicine Seller's mysterious journey with this final film. Given that the previous films in the series reached global audiences via Netflix, this finale is also expected to be accessible worldwide shortly after its release.
