Murciélago TV Anime Premieres in January 2027, HIDIVE to Stream Exclusively
An exciting development has occurred for Murciélago, which has long been awaited for an anime adaptation. According to Anime News Network, the TV anime adapted from Yoshimurakana's manga series of the same name will premiere in January 2027. The streaming platform will be HIDIVE. The platform will exclusively stream the series in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Meaning 'bat' in Spanish, Murciélago has been serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine since 2013 and has reached over 20 volumes. The series, which appeals to a seinen readership, follows Kuroko Koumori, a serial killer sentenced to death, who helps catch other criminals as a result of a deal she makes with the police. Combining black humor, violence, and yuri elements, the manga quickly built a cult following. The series' English edition is published by Yen Press.
This anime adaptation is one of the biggest milestones for the series, which has been running for over a decade. Murciélago is known for its bold storytelling that defies mainstream templates and its boundary-pushing character. HIDIVE's choice is also quite meaningful in this regard; the platform has previously hosted adult-themed titles such as Made in Abyss and Interspecies Reviewers. This strengthens the likelihood of the series being an uncensored and faithful adaptation.
So far, the studio and voice cast for the anime have not been announced. However, the clarification of the release date is a sign that the promotional process will accelerate.
