Nabe ni Dangan wo Ukenagara TV Anime Announced: Get Ready for Dangerous Delicacies in 2027!

The gourmet world has never been this dangerous or this bizarre! The popular manga series Nabe ni Dangan wo Ukenagara (Getting Shots on a Frying Pan), written by Juntaro Aoki and illustrated by Shin Moriyama, is officially getting a TV anime adaptation. According to the announcement, the highly anticipated project will be produced by the renowned studio J.C.STAFF, known for successful works like Food Wars! and DanMachi. The series is currently scheduled for release in 2027.
Nabe ni Dangan wo Ukenagara follows a path quite different from typical food-themed anime. The story serves as a "non-fiction" gourmet report based on the real-life experiences of author Juntaro Aoki. Our protagonist, Juntarō, travels to the world's most dangerous regions—including war zones, slums, and high-crime areas—solely to taste the unique delicacies found there. However, what makes the series truly interesting is that the protagonist views the world through an "anime girl filter." With his mind clouded by excessive consumption of 2D media, Juntarō perceives all the dangerous people he encounters as cute anime girls.
The series, which made a significant impact in the manga world, first began serialization in 2021 on Kadokawa's Comic Newtype platform. It quickly gained a cult following and managed to break into the top 20 of the male readers category in the prestigious Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guide in 2023. With 5 volumes published in Japan so far, a spin-off series titled Nabe ni Dangan wo Ukenagara Transit was also released to readers in March 2026.
The fact that J.C.STAFF is taking on this project has fans excited, especially regarding the quality of the food scenes. The studio's past work on gourmet-focused projects suggests they are the perfect choice to bring the chaotic and appetizing atmosphere of Nabe ni Dangan wo Ukenagara to the screen. Although we have to wait until 2027, it is certain that this unique "dangerous gourmet" adventure will bring a breath of fresh air to the anime world. Details such as the voice cast and the first trailer are expected to be shared in the coming months.
