New Digimon Anime Project to Air in 2027

A new Digimon anime project has been officially announced. According to Anime News Network's August 1, 2026 news report, the production will air in 2027. This announcement coincides with the 30th anniversary the franchise will celebrate next year. For the long-running series, this marks the beginning of a new era.
Digimon (Digital Monsters) entered the gaming world in 1997 with Bandai's virtual pet devices; it then met anime audiences with Digimon Adventure in 1999. Although Akiyoshi Hongo is credited as the creator, this name is actually known as a collective pseudonym for the team. Toei Animation has been behind all of the series' anime productions. 2027 will be the 30th anniversary of the franchise's story that began with virtual pets, and this new project is seen as one of the biggest productions being prepared for that year.
There have also been recent works that delighted Digimon fans. In 2020, Digimon Adventure: (reboot) aired, followed by Digimon Ghost Game between 2021 and 2023. In 2023, the film Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning was released. Nevertheless, a new TV anime arriving in 2027 is a sign that the series will continue to produce anime regularly. As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, this project's promotion is expected to accelerate in the coming months.
The new project's title, director, character design, or broadcast format have not yet been announced. Fans are closely following official announcements from Bandai Namco and Toei Animation. Having reached both old and new audiences in the past with nostalgic projects such as the Digimon Adventure tri. film series, the franchise now aims to deliver a comprehensive production befitting the weight of the 30th anniversary. This project, which will once again prove Digimon's place in the anime world, is already a great source of excitement for the community.
