New Film 'The Last Blossom' by ODDTAXI Creators Opens in the US

The new film The Last Blossom by ODDTAXI creators Kazuya Konomoto and Baku Kinoshita is set to meet moviegoers in the US. Anime distribution company GKIDS announced that the film will be shown in select theaters across the United States on August 30-31. Previously released in Japan on October 10, the film stands out with its original story combining mystery and drama.
When ODDTAXI aired in 2021, it made a big splash in the anime world with its character design and deep social criticism. The detective story revolving around Odokawa the walrus, a taxi driver, left a lasting impression with its surprising ending. Now, the same team returns with a completely different atmosphere: The Last Blossom, adapted from a manga, promises an emotional journey exploring themes of loss, memories, and last chances.
GKIDS is an experienced distributor that has previously brought titles such as Weathering With You and The Boy and the Heron to the US. This partnership is an important step for the film to reach a wide audience. The screening is limited to two days, but it is stated that additional sessions may be added depending on demand. Ticket sales are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
ODDTAXI fans are eagerly wondering if The Last Blossom carries the same creative vision. Konomoto's original script and Kinoshita's directorial touch could make the film one of the most notable anime cinema experiences of 2025. Positive reviews from early screenings in Japan praise the film's emotional depth and visual aesthetic. After the US premiere, the international screening schedule is expected to be finalized.
