New Ghost in the Shell Anime's Ending Theme 'Blue' and 4th Trailer Released

An exciting detail has been clarified for the new Ghost in the Shell anime series that fans have long been waiting for. The series' ending credits will feature the song 'Blue' performed by MILLENNIUM PARADE. The song has been co-produced with Canadian artists Saya Gray and Daniel Caesar, adding an international flavor. Additionally, the fourth promotional video (PV) featuring this new music has been released.
The new Ghost in the Shell adaptation is based on the original manga by master mangaka Masamune Shirow. The universe, previously known through Mamoru Oshii's cult films and the Stand Alone Complex series, is now being brought to life by an entirely new animation team. Kenji Kamiyama is directing the series; Kamiyama is also known as the director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. This is a strong indication for old fans that the spirit of the series will be preserved.
The series' opening theme had previously been announced as a song performed by Kenshi Yonezu. Now, with 'Blue' chosen for the ending, two different musical styles come together. MILLENNIUM PARADE is a collective known for its experimental and innovative sound on the Japanese music scene. The involvement of artists like Saya Gray and Daniel Caesar shows that the project aims to make an impact not only in Japan but on a global scale. In the released fourth trailer, new scenes reflecting the series' cyberpunk atmosphere are showcased along with this track.
Although the premiere date of the new Ghost in the Shell anime series has not been finalized yet, it is expected to be released within 2026. Production I.G is handling distribution, and it is estimated to be screened worldwide through various platforms. This series will revisit deep themes such as cybernetic bodies, artificial intelligence, and the philosophy of consciousness. It will be a nostalgic return especially for Stand Alone Complex fans, while also serving as an entry point for new viewers. More details and a release date announcement are expected in the coming weeks.
