New 'Patlabor EZY' Movie Coming with Mori Calliope's Opening Song and Special Gifts!

The highly anticipated new film in the legendary Patlabor series, Mobile Police Patlabor EZY File 1, is set to meet moviegoers in Japan on May 15, 2026. This exciting return was announced with a promotional video featuring the opening theme Reimei Compass, performed by the famous VTuber artist Mori Calliope. It was also announced that special gifts would be given to viewers attending the film's first-week screenings.
The Mobile Police Patlabor EZY project will consist of a total of 8 episodes, which will be screened in cinemas as 3 separate films (parts). File 1 will include the first three episodes of the series. The film's opening theme, Reimei Compass, stands out with Mori Calliope's unique rap talent and a blend of Japanese and English lyrics. The ending theme will be Baton, performed by Mariko Nagai. Yutaka Izubuchi is directing the film, while the screenplay and series composition are by Kazunori Ito. Animation production is handled by J.C.STAFF studio, with CG support from GAZEN and J.C.STAFF CG departments. Special gifts for first-week cinema visitors include double-sided A5 mini posters featuring both the theatrical version and EZY. Additionally, a special gift was announced in collaboration with the Hiroshima Prefectural Police.
The Patlabor series originally began in 1988 as an OVA (Original Video Animation), created by the creative team known as HEADGEAR (Masami Yuuki, Yutaka Izubuchi, Kazunori Ito, Akemi Takada, and Mamoru Oshii).
