Additional Voice Cast and Release Date Announced for New Ranma 1/2 Anime's 3rd Season
Ranma 1/2 fans have exciting news: The third season of the new adaptation officially premieres on October 3. Additionally, a lineup of master voice actors joining the anime was announced. With the announcement on July 26, names such as Masako Nozawa (Goku in Dragon Ball), Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch in Code Geass), Mayumi Tanaka (Luffy in One Piece), Saori Hayami, and Minami Tanaka have joined the cast.
This new season is a continuation of the revived adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's legendary manga by MAPPA. The first season, which premiered in 2024, received great acclaim, merging classic comedy and martial arts storytelling with modern animation quality. The quick announcement of the third season after the second season demonstrates the producers' confidence in the series. Especially given that MAPPA is among the studios known for high production values, it signals that new episodes will be visually impressive as well.
While it is not yet clear which story arcs will be focused on in the new season, the original Ranma 1/2 manga, with its 38-volume expansive universe, still has plenty to tell. Published between 1987 and 1996, the series — with its absurd events and romantic conflicts surrounding a gender-swapping martial artist — is a cult classic of its genre. Like Takahashi's other masterpieces Inuyasha and Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2 is enjoying a return to audiences after many years.
The third season is scheduled to premiere in Japan on October 3. The schedule for international streaming platforms (such as Netflix) has not yet been announced. As in previous seasons, it is expected that this season will soon become available worldwide.
