New Voice Cast for Second Season of MAO Anime: Sato, Kugimiya, and Konishi Join

An exciting announcement has been made for the second season (second cour) of the MAO anime: five new voice actors are joining the series adapted from Rumiko Takahashi's manga. Among them are well-known names such as Satō Takuya, Kugimiya Rie, and Konishi Katsuyuki.
New characters and the voice cast will meet viewers during the broadcast of the second cour. At the same time, a new key visual for the series was also shared. This visual hints at characters who will appear in the later parts of the story.
As you may recall, MAO is the last completed manga by master author Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura), serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 2019 to 2023. The series tells a supernatural action story set in the Taishō period. The main character, Mao, is a demon hunter who fights creatures threatening humans while confronting his own past.
The first season of the anime adaptation aired in the summer of 2024 and received positive reactions from both Takahashi fans and new viewers. Although studio information has not yet been fully clarified, the production quality and successful adaptation of Takahashi's characteristic drawings into the anime have been praised. The second cour is expected to start in the coming months, around April 2025.
This new cast addition means that side characters, especially those who appear at critical points in the story, will come to life. The presence of Kugimiya Rie (famous roles: Shana, Alphonse Elric) and Konishi Katsuyuki (better known for Kamina, Karasu) will further enhance the voice acting quality. Satō Takuya is a talent who has recently made a name for himself in many productions.
In summary, the second cour has already become exciting for fans of MAO. Those who missed the first season can catch up on the story by watching the series on streaming platforms. Keep following us for updates.
