One Piece Becomes the First Japanese Anime to Get a Permanent Exhibition Area at the Grévin Museum in Paris

One Piece has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first Japanese anime to secure a permanent exhibition space at the historic Grévin Museum (Musée Grévin) in the heart of Paris. Opening its doors as of June 26, 2026, this special section brings Monkey D. Luffy and his loyal Straw Hat Pirates alongside the wax figures of world-famous icons like Napoleon, Charlie Chaplin, and Kylian Mbappé. This step is not just a success for the series, but also a testament to the artistic and cultural weight of anime culture in Europe.
This 80-square-meter immersive area, titled "Cabaret du Soleil" (Sun Cabaret), recreates a moment of our pirates at a joyful banquet table. All ten members of the crew—Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe—are featured as life-sized wax figures. In particular, the massive sizes of the shipwright Franky and the helmsman Jinbe, reaching nearly three meters, allow visitors to personally feel the epic scale of the series. Meticulously prepared in Japan in collaboration with Toei Animation, these figures were designed with strict fidelity to the series, from the characters' expressions to the details of their clothing.
It is no coincidence that France has bestowed this honor upon One Piece; the country is the second-largest manga market in the world after Japan. The manga, launched by Eiichiro Oda in 1997 and having sold over 500 million copies worldwide, has become a true cultural phenomenon in France with over 50 million copies sold. It is even known that French President Emmanuel Macron is a fan of the series and has received a special drawing from Oda. This permanent exhibition, coinciding with the 25th-anniversary celebrations of the anime series, crowns the multi-generational impact of the franchise.
Museum officials describe this collaboration as "an opportunity to bring one of the world's most influential manga and anime series to an international audience." To celebrate the opening, the first 50,000 ticketed visitors to the museum are being gifted a limited-edition One Piece Card Game promotional card (Luffy OP13-001) designed specifically for this collaboration. If your path takes you to Paris, don't forget to take a souvenir photo with Luffy and browse the exclusive collection items at the museum shop in this exhibition, which has been announced to run until 2029!
