One Piece God Valley Anime Film Coming in 2027, BAAD Film in 2029

An unavoidable announcement has come for a One Piece fan: At the official One Piece Day event, a new anime film that will bring the series' legendary God Valley Incident to the screen will be released in 2027. At the same event, a second film project called BAAD was announced for 2029.
The God Valley Incident is a major historical event that took place 38 years before the main timeline of the story. In this event, which has only been told in fragments in the manga so far, the Rocks Pirates led by Rocks D. Xebec – including young Kaido, Big Mom, Whitebeard, and Shiki – faced off against the temporary alliance of Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp on God Valley island. Because the conflict is one of the events covered up by the World Government, the island has been erased from maps today. The film will adapt this legendary battle that fans have wanted to see on the big screen for years.
The announcement's only star is not God Valley. Details of the BAAD film planned for 2029 have not yet been shared, but announcing two film projects at once shows Toei Animation's intention to carry the One Piece universe to a wider area in cinema. While 2027 coincides with the 30th anniversary of the One Piece manga, 2029 will be the 30th anniversary of the anime adaptation. This choice of dates suggests that both films are planned to celebrate important milestones in the series' history.
This announcement also reveals that One Piece films are no longer seen merely as "side stories." Productions such as Film Red (2022) and Stampede (2019) achieved great box office success alongside the main series. The fact that the God Valley Incident is directly connected to the final chapters of the manga places this new film in a critical position for the future of the series. For now, no official details have been shared about the film's script or Eiichiro Oda's role in the production, but more information is expected at upcoming events.
This means a great deal for fans: As One Piece progresses toward the final major story arc that Oda has described as the "final saga," the greatest secrets of the past will also be answered. In 2027, we will all see what happened at God Valley, and in 2029, we will see what kind of story BAAD will tell.
