A Dark Wizard of Oz Tale: OVER REQUIEMZ Comes to the West on August 20!
We have exciting news for fans of visual novels and otome games! Publisher Aksys Games has officially announced that the dark fantasy otome game OVER REQUIEMZ, developed in collaboration with Idea Factory and Kogado Studio, will be released for the Nintendo Switch platform in the West on August 20, 2026. Bringing a completely different and gloomy perspective to the classic "Wizard of Oz" tale, this production invites players into a world full of mysteries.
Unlike the colorful world of Oz we know, OVER REQUIEMZ takes place in a realm on the brink of destruction. The story begins with Yuhiru, an ordinary high school student, being dragged into the kingdom of Oz by a mysterious tornado. However, in this foreign world, Yuhiru is unjustly sentenced to death for being considered "possessed by a demon" due to her black hair and eyes. Her only way to survive is to explore ruins filled with monsters, accompanied by four dangerous criminals who are also on death row, and a mysterious warden. On this journey, players will form deep bonds with characters such as Claude Grain, Molly Woodland, Noil Bestia, and Kaize Ozma.
One of the most notable features of the game is the variety of routes it offers. OVER REQUIEMZ provides players with two main paths for each character: "Fact" routes focused on salvation, and the much gloomier "Dark" paths. With a total of four different endings for each character, the game allows players to freely choose any character's route after the prologue. This flexibility allows players to experience the story in the order they wish and explore the secrets of the world of Oz from different perspectives.
The names behind the game are quite familiar to fans of the genre. Idea Factory, known for the Otomate brand, has previously signed off on legendary titles of the genre such as Hakuoki and Collar x Malice. This collaboration with Kogado Studio marks the duo's second major partnership since 2017's Shiro to Kuro no Alice. Hitting shelves on August 20, OVER REQUIEMZ will be available in both a standard edition and a special online edition that includes the original soundtrack (OST).
