Pokémon Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary with a Boss Coffee Collaboration: Build Your Own Coffee Pokédex!

Exciting news for Pokémon fans! The legendary journey that began in 1996 is grandly entering its 30th year in 2026. To celebrate this major milestone, Japanese beverage giant Suntory has joined forces with its popular coffee brand, Boss Coffee. Thanks to this collaboration, fans will be able to build their own "real-world Pokédex" by collecting limited-edition coffee cans featuring their favorite Pokémon. This special series, called Pokémon Pokédex Cans, targets both collectors and coffee lovers alike.
The can designs offered as part of the collaboration feature iconic characters from the series and beloved Pokémon from different generations. In addition to classics like Pikachu and Eevee, starter Pokémon from the first five generations, ranging from the Kanto to the Unova regions, will be featured in these special packages. Five different coffee varieties, including Rainbow Mountain Blend, Luxurious Slightly Sweet, and Unsweetened Black, are being completely revamped with this theme. The campaign is not limited to just beverages; starting June 1, 2026, lucky fans will have the chance to win special "Boss-jan" jackets themed after Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, each with unique features (such as the LED tail light on the Charmander jacket).
The Pokémon brand entered our lives on February 27, 1996, with the Pokémon Red and Green games released for the Game Boy in Japan. Created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori, this universe quickly transformed from video games into an anime, card games, and a massive media empire. Boss Coffee is known for its successful collaborations with major franchises such as Dragon Ball, Spy x Family, and Uma Musume. However, this campaign prepared for Pokémon's 30th anniversary seems poised to be one of the most comprehensive food collaborations in the series' history by combining nostalgia with modern design.
These special collectible items are scheduled to be available in markets and vending machines across Japan starting June 2, 2026. For collectors, the inclusion of Pokédex information for each Pokémon on the cans brings the series' famous "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" motto into daily life. We expect to see many more events, new game announcements, and collaborations throughout 2026 specifically for Pokémon's 30th anniversary. If your travels take you to Japan, we recommend you don't miss out on these limited-edition coffees!
