New Trailer Released for Ranma 1/2 Season 3: Returning in October

Ranma 1/2 fans have great news! The third season of the anime, which MAPPA has adapted from Rumiko Takahashi's iconic work, has been officially announced and its first trailer has been released. The trailer confirms the season will start in October 2025, while also giving hints about the new adventures of the series' iconic characters.
The released trailer features all the main cast, including Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo. The footage shows that both the classic humor and the fight scenes have been further improved compared to previous seasons. The first season aired in October 2024, and the second in April 2025. MAPPA's rapid pace reveals the studio's confidence in the series and its respect for Takahashi's work.
As you may recall, Ranma 1/2 was first published as a manga between 1987 and 1996, and achieved cult status with its 1990s anime adaptation. This adaptation, brought to life by MAPPA with modern production techniques, receives full marks from both nostalgic viewers and new-generation anime fans. Considering that Takahashi is also known for other masterpieces such as Inuyasha and Urusei Yatsura, this project offers the opportunity to bring one of the mangaka's most beloved works up to modern standards.
Although it is not yet clear where the story will go in the third season, considering the events at the end of the second season, characters like Kun and Ukyo are expected to come more to the forefront. It is also rumored that some episodes about Pantyless Akari and Ryoga's past will be adapted. The official announcement stated that the season will consist of 12 episodes and will be released globally again on Netflix.
This development comes at a time when demand for productions that bring a modern touch to 1990s classics is increasing. Following the new adaptation of Urusei Yatsura, MAPPA's achieving the same success with Ranma 1/2 proves the studio's expertise in Takahashi's series. As October approaches, more visuals and character introductions are expected. Fans are already eagerly awaiting the laughter and action-packed adventures of the third season.
