Rascal Does Not Dream Series Nears Its Finale: A Special Farewell Visual for Tomoe Koga Released

The beloved anime series Rascal Does Not Dream continues to move fans as it nears the end of its journey spanning over a decade. As the countdown continues for the film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend (Seishun Buta Yarou wa Dear Friend no Yume wo Minai), which is described as the grand finale of the series, a special memorial visual and video have been shared for one of the most unforgettable characters, Tomoe Koga.
Set to hit theaters in Japan on October 16, 2026, this film will bring the story of Sakuta Azusagawa and his friends to a definitive conclusion. Based on the 14th and 15th volumes of the original light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi, the production serves as the finale for both the "University Arc" and the entire series. In the newly shared visual, Koga is seen holding an "ema" (votive plaque), highlighting the emotional growth the character has undergone throughout the series.
Produced by CloverWorks studio, the series first entered our lives in 2018 with the Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai anime. Dealing with supernatural events known as "Puberty Syndrome" with psychological depth, the production expanded over the years with many films and a second season titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, released in 2025. Tomoe Koga became known as the "Little Devil" in the second volume of the series and captured fans' hearts with the cycle of "repeated days" she experienced with Sakuta.
This special series of visuals serves as a farewell to each of the main characters before the final film. Series creator Kamoshida announced that the light novel series officially concluded with the 15th volume in October 2024. For anime fans, this film will be the final major appointment to see Sakuta's last struggle with Puberty Syndrome and the ultimate outcome of his relationship with Mai Sakurajima. In this final chapter of the story, the truth about the mysterious singer Touko Kirishima is also expected to be fully revealed.
