A Major Collaboration for Re:Zero Season 4: Tottori Governor Takes the Stage in Subaru Costume

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, one of Japan's most beloved isekai series, has launched a massive local collaboration to coincide with the broadcast of its highly anticipated 4th season. At a special promotional event held at Japan's famous Tottori Sand Dunes (Tottori Sakyu) on April 19, 2026, Tottori Governor Shinji Hirai caused a stir among fans by appearing on stage wearing the iconic tracksuit costume of the main character, Natsuki Subaru. The event was attended by the series' lead voice actors Yusuke Kobayashi (Subaru), Rie Takahashi (Emilia), Takuya Eguchi (Julius), and Konomi Suzuki, who performs the series' iconic theme songs.
This collaboration is based on the resemblance between the Augria Sand Dunes, which play a significant role in the 4th season, and the natural beauty of Tottori. During the event, an official "Dune Alliance" agreement was signed, and Yusuke Kobayashi commented on the region's atmosphere, stating, "It really gives off an isekai (another world) vibe." As part of the campaign, which will run from April 19 to August 31, 2026, a special stamp rally will be held for fans visiting the region. The first 1,000 people to collect stamps from five different locations will be gifted a limited-edition Emilia figure stand made from Tottori sand.
Adapted from the light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki, Re:Zero entered one of the darkest and most exciting chapters of the story with its 4th season, which began on April 8, 2026. The new season consists of two parts: the 11-episode "The Loss Arc" and the 8-episode "The Recapture Arc," which will begin on August 12, 2026. Produced by White Fox studio, the series takes Subaru's struggle with his "Return by Death" ability to the next level with these new episodes following the 3rd season that aired in 2024 and 2025.
Tottori Prefecture is known as the "Manga Kingdom" due to its previous collaborations with series such as Detective Conan and GeGeGe no Kitaro. Governor Shinji Hirai's personal participation in such events by wearing costumes is a testament to how seriously local governments in Japan take anime culture to boost tourism. For fans, this collaboration is not just a promotion, but also an opportunity to experience the world of their favorite series in real life. In the coming months, new trailers for the second half of the 4th season and details regarding new music performed by MYTH & ROID and TK from Ling tosite sigure are expected to be shared.
