Iwamoto-san no Osusume Anime Arrives in July: New Trailer and Voice Cast Announced

An exciting development has occurred in the anime world! With the announcement made during the AnimeJapan 2026 event, it has been confirmed that the Iwamoto-san no Osusume (Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen) anime will meet audiences in July 2026. The second promotional video shared through the series' official channels both deepens the mysterious atmosphere of the story and proves once again how ambitious the production is. With this new trailer, the series' broadcast schedule has been clarified, and the additional voice cast that fans have been eagerly awaiting has also been revealed.
The most notable name in the newly announced cast is undoubtedly one of the legendary voices of the anime world, Akira Ishida. Ishida will bring the character Bōkyo Kizujō to life in the series. He will be joined by Masaya Fukunishi as Oni Okuaki and Takuma Nagatsuka as Shizuma Aonuma. These master voice actors join the strong team consisting of Taito Ban, who voices the main character Kodō Iwamoto; Yuki Sakakihara as Kai Haramachi; and Kent Itō as Sōichirō Amaha. The chemistry between the voice actors is already seen as a major plus for the series' character-driven narrative.
The genius behind the series is the famous mangaka Hiroshi Shiibashi, known for Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan (Nurarihyon no Mago). Set in 1910s Japan, the story revolves around Kodō Iwamoto, who attends Seihō Middle School, which is under the direct control of the military. This school is a secret institution established to investigate supernatural phenomena and use these powers for military purposes. While investigating paranormal events across the country, Kodō encounters young people who mistake their own powers for a disease and guides them. The manga, which has been published in Ultra Jump magazine since 2021 and reached 13 volumes as of January 2026, is known for blending historical texture with fantastic elements.
Looking at the technical staff, we see that the project is in safe hands. The anime, produced by Studio DEEN, is directed by Toshifumi Kawase. Keiichirō Ōchi, known for The Quintessential Quintuplets, sits in the screenwriter's chair, while character designs are entrusted to the talented Atsuko Nakajima of Komi Can't Communicate. The music is composed by Yoshiaki Dewa and Tōru Ishitsuka, who worked wonders with Hell's Paradise. This strong team and deep story make Iwamoto-san no Osusume a candidate to be one of the most talked-about productions of the 2026 summer season. New visuals and details are expected to continue arriving before the premiere in July.
