New Voice Cast Announced for Red River (Anatolia Story) Anime: Premiering in July 2026!

Concrete news has finally begun to emerge regarding the long-awaited Red River (Anatolia Story) anime adaptation. The production team has officially announced five new voice actors (seiyuu) that will excite fans of the series. With this announcement, it has been confirmed that Aya Uchida will voice one of the series' most critical characters, Queen Nakia, while Shōya Chiba will voice the character Zannanza. The cast is also joined by experienced industry names Tomoaki Maeno, Kōji Yusa, and Kōsuke Toriumi.
Produced by Tatsunoko Production, the anime will meet audiences in Japan in July 2026. The previously announced main cast included Mirai Tachibana as Yuri Suzuki and Wataru Katō as Prince Kail. The return of this series, which took the late 1990s and early 2000s by storm, with a modern anime production represents a major comeback for the shoujo genre. These strong names in the voice cast have already raised expectations regarding the quality of the production.
Written by Chie Shinohara, Red River was published in Sho-Comi magazine between 1995 and 2002, reaching a massive collection of 28 volumes. Winning the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2001, the series became one of the most successful shoujo manga of all time, selling over 20 million copies worldwide. The story follows Yuri Suzuki, a modern teenage girl who is transported to the ancient Hittite Empire (Anatolia) and the love story full of political intrigue she experiences there. For fans of the series in Turkey, the adaptation of this epic story set in Anatolian lands into an anime holds special significance.
The technical team behind the production is also quite ambitious. Kōsuke Kobayashi sits in the director's chair, while the music for the series will be composed by Yoshihisa Hirano, known for legends such as Death Note and Hunter × Hunter. Furthermore, the fact that experts from the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology are providing consultation to ensure historical accuracy shows how seriously the project is being taken. While fans eagerly await how the iconic love between Yuri and Prince Kail will be visualized, the studio is expected to share a new trailer in the coming months.
