Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 Release Date Announced: Fran and Teacher Return in October!

One of the most unusual duos in the isekai world, Fran and Teacher, are returning to screens after a long wait! According to the official announcement made during the AnimeJapan 2026 event, the second season of the Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita) anime series will meet viewers in October 2026. The news that the series, which received great attention in late 2022, will continue was crowned with a new promotional video.
Familiar names remain in the production chair for the new season. Studio C2C, which was appreciated for its successful work in the first season, continues to handle animation production, while Shinji Ishihira once again sits in the director's chair. The return of names like Atsuko Saito for character designs and Yasuharu Takanashi for music signals that the series' visual and auditory quality will be maintained. In the voice cast, Ai Kakuma, who brings the character Fran to life, and Shinichiro Miki, in the role of Teacher (Sword), will be back at the microphone.
Based on the popular light novel series written by Yuu Tanaka and illustrated by Llo, the anime tells the story of a man who is reincarnated as a "sword" in a fantasy world after a traffic accident. In the second season, the focus of the story will shift to a new adventure where Fran and Teacher will head towards the "Floating Island" and face an army of the dead. The dose of action is expected to increase, especially with the inclusion of new characters like the necromancer Jean Douby.
For fans of the series, this news means the silence that has lasted since 2022 has been broken. Fran's dream of evolving and the intimate father-daughter-like bond between her and Teacher are seen as the strongest elements that distinguish the series from other isekai productions. The new season, which will begin in October 2026, is a candidate to be one of the most ambitious productions of the fall anime season with both action-packed fight scenes and emotional character development.
