Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 6 Confirmed: Cohabitation Arc to be Adapted

Rent-A-Girlfriend fans have great news: The romantic comedy series is returning with season 6! The production company officially announced the renewal of the series on June 26, 2026, and stated that this season will adapt the exciting Cohabitation arc from the manga.
Written by Reiji Miyajima and serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2017, Rent-A-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) entered the anime world with its first season in 2020. Since then, the series has received new seasons regularly: season 2 (2022), season 3 (2023), season 4 (2024), and following the 5th season released last year, it now continues with season 6. The manga is ongoing with over 35 volumes, and total sales worldwide have exceeded 11 million.
The new season will bring to the screen the Cohabitation arc, one of the most controversial and emotionally intense arcs in the manga. This story covers a period when the relationship between protagonist Kazuya Kinoshita and his rental girlfriend Chizuru Mizuhara takes a completely different turn. Fans believe that this arc will provide truly exciting moments in the anime adaptation.
Although the production studio for the series has not been finalized, TMS Entertainment, which proved its quality in previous seasons, is expected to take the helm again. Additionally, there are rumors that there will be no change in the director's seat, with the beloved director Shinichi Omata continuing with the project. An official release date has not been announced yet, but it is planned to air sometime in 2027.
Despite receiving criticism in some aspects, Rent-A-Girlfriend has a large fanbase thanks especially to its character development and the tense relationship between Mizuhara and Kazuya. The announcement of season 6 once again shows how solid the series' viewership base is. Now all eyes are on the trailer and clearer release details for the new season.
