Rent-a-Girlfriend Renewed for Season 6: Kazuya and Chizuru Move In Together!
One of the most talked-about and debated productions in the world of romantic comedy, Rent-a-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu), has hit the headlines with major news that will delight its fans. Immediately following the broadcast of the series' 5th season finale on June 26, 2026, it was announced through official channels that production has been greenlit for a 6th season. This rapid renewal proves once again just how loyal the series' popularity and audience base are.
Along with the new season announcement, a special commemorative illustration prepared by the series' character designer Kanna Hirayama was shared. The visual notably features the story's main protagonists, Kazuya Kinoshita and Chizuru Mizuhara, as well as the beloved character Mini Yaemori. The 6th season will cover the "Cohabitation Arc", which is considered a major turning point in the manga. This arc will depict how Kazuya and Chizuru's relationship evolves into a completely different dimension after they are forced to share the same house due to unexpected events.
The manga series, launched by Reiji Miyajima in 2017 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine, has achieved massive commercial success, selling over 15 million copies worldwide to date. Its anime journey, which began in 2020, has continued uninterrupted with seasons aired in 2022, 2023, 2025, and finally 2026. In the anime world, where romantic comedy series are usually accustomed to ending after a few seasons, Rent-a-Girlfriend reaching a 6th season is a rare occurrence by industry standards.
On the production side, TMS Entertainment (Studio 6) is expected to maintain its quality. It is anticipated that Kazuomi Koga, who served as director for the first two and the last two seasons of the series, will return to the director's chair. As for the voice cast, names such as Shun Horie (Kazuya), Sora Amamiya (Chizuru), and Yu Serizawa (Mini) will return to their roles. Although a definitive release date has not yet been announced, given the series' past broadcast schedule, it seems likely to return to screens sometime in 2027.
