Rina Honnizumi Joins Chainsmoker Cat Anime: Imoko's Voice Revealed

The Chainsmoker Cat anime has added another important name to its voice cast. According to Anime News Network, experienced voice actress Rina Honnizumi will play Imoko, the main character's little sister in the series. Honnizumi is previously known for her roles as Hanamaru Kunikida in Love Live! Sunshine!! and Miko Iino in Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
Although not yet officially announced, according to research, Chainsmoker Cat is adapted from Tsukasa Abe's popular manga of the same name. The manga was published on the Shonen Jump+ platform and attracted attention with its unusual story about the adventures of a smoking cat. It is known that the anime adaptation of the series was first announced at the end of 2025 and is expected to premiere in the summer 2026 season.
Rina Honnizumi bringing Imoko to life is a matter of great curiosity, especially for readers who loved the dynamic relationship between Imoko and her brother in the manga. Imoko stands out as a figure who maintains a calm and understanding attitude towards her brother's eccentricities, while also providing balance in the story. Given the sweet and energetic characters Honnizumi has portrayed before, it can be said that she is a perfect fit for this role.
Although official sources have not yet confirmed the director and studio of the anime adaptation, industry rumors indicate that the project is moving forward with a quality team. Chainsmoker Cat's unusual premise – a cat making social criticism through its smoking habit – sets it apart from other animal-themed productions. This increases interest in the anime adaptation.
In the coming days, the rest of the main cast, the release date, and a trailer are expected to be announced. If everything goes as planned, Chainsmoker Cat could become one of the most talked-about works of the summer season. Stay tuned to follow the developments!
