Release Date and Music Details Announced for Saga of Tanya the Evil II

The long-awaited news has finally arrived! Official release date and music details have been announced for Saga of Tanya the Evil II (Youjo Senki II). The anime will premiere in Japan on July 8, 2025. This means the years-long wait for fans of the series is over.
According to the announced details, the opening theme will be performed by Myth & Roid, a beloved group in the anime music world. The ending theme will be by Tanya herself: series lead voice actress Aoi Yūki will sing the song as the character Tanya. Additionally, a mini anime to be released alongside the second season was also announced. This extra content will consist of fun short episodes parallel to the main story.
Looking back at the series' history, Saga of Tanya the Evil was first adapted into an anime by studio NUT in 2017. Adapted from Carlo Zen's light novel series of the same name, the production garnered great acclaim for its military fantasy story set in an alternate history. The series continued with a film released in 2019, and had remained silent about a second season for a long time. Fans were excited by the official announcement in 2021, but the wait dragged on due to the extended production process. Now they are returning with a clear date.
This announcement is especially significant for Tanya, which holds a unique place within the 'isekai wave' of the late 2010s. Unlike most isekai, the series focuses on the realism of war and bureaucratic conflicts, earning high scores from both critics and viewers. The second season is expected to adapt the later volumes of the light novel (particularly volume 6 and beyond). Fans will witness Tanya's rise in the Imperial Army and her battles against new enemies.
Along with the release date, a new visual was also shared. In the visual, Tanya appears with a determined expression on the battlefield. While it is not yet clear which channel will air the second season, it is likely that AT-X, which aired the first season, and other platforms will be involved. Announcements regarding international licensing deals are expected in the coming weeks. Mark your calendars for July 8 now; Tanya's return is near!
