Countdown to the Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsou) 20th Anniversary Film: Theme Song and Release Date Announced!

Dear anime fans, the invasion of Pekopon (Earth) continues right where it left off! The legendary 2000s comedy series Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsou) is celebrating its 20th anniversary in the anime world with a massive feature film. According to the official announcement, the main theme song for the highly anticipated new film will be performed by popular artist ano and comedian/musician Soshina (Shimofuri Myojo). Additionally, famous comedian Shinobu Hasegawa has joined the cast as the film's narrator.
The official title of the film has been set as Shin Gekijoban Keroro Gunsou: Fukkatsushite Sokkou Chikyu Metsubou no Kiki de Arimasu! (New Sgt. Frog Movie: The Resurrection and the Sudden Threat of Earth's Destruction!). Artist ano and Soshina will perform a new rendition of the series' iconic opening song, titled "Mata Kaettekita Kero! to March". ano, who stated that they are a huge fan of the series, expressed great honor in being part of this project and mentioned that the recording sessions were a lot of fun.
This project marks the first Sgt. Frog film to be released since 2010. The film is directed by Yuichi Fukuda, who previously achieved great success with the Gintama live-action films, serving as general director and screenwriter. The animation production is handled by BN Pictures (formerly known as Sunrise). The film, which will feature the return of the full original voice cast, is set to hit theaters in Japan on June 26, 2026.
Created by Mine Yoshizaki and first introduced through its manga in 1999, Sgt. Frog follows an alien from the planet Keron who comes to invade Earth but spends his time on Gundam models.
