Main Cast Announced for Sgt. Frog Musical: Keroro and His Team Take the Stage!

The long-awaited news for Pekopon Invasion Musical: Sgt. Frog (Pekopon Shinryaku Musical 'Keroro Gunsou') has finally arrived. The five main actors who will portray the Keroro Platoon in the production, adapted from Mine Yoshizaki's cult manga series, have been officially announced. Shogo Tamura, an experienced name in the 2.5D stage world, will star in the lead role as the clumsy but ambitious Sergeant Keroro. He will be joined by Shion Otomo (Tamama), Ryono Kusachi (Giroro), Haruki Kiyama (Kururu), and Shin Tamura (Dororo) to complete the most colorful invasion unit from planet Keron.
The musical also features a highly ambitious production team. The direction and screenplay are handled by Keita Kawajiri (SUGARBOY), who has achieved great success with stage adaptations of popular series such as Mob Psycho 100 and Cells at Work!. The music will be composed by Yu (vague), known for The Prince of Tennis musicals. The production will meet the audience at the prestigious Japan Youth Hall (Nippon Seinenkan Hall) in Tokyo between September 18-27, 2026. In the first visual shared, the vibrant costumes reflecting the characters' iconic colors and personalities signal that the series' absurd sense of humor will be successfully transferred to the stage.
This musical project is seen as part of a renaissance period for the Sgt. Frog brand. As the manga series, which began in 1999 in Monthly Shonen Ace magazine, celebrates its 25th anniversary, the anime series that started in 2004 has also passed its 20th anniversary. Fans will not have to settle for just the musical; New Sergeant Frog the Movie, the first new feature film in 16 years, will be released on June 26, 2026. Additionally, a new TV anime that will reboot the series with a modern touch is scheduled to premiere in the last quarter of 2026.
Although the plans for the invasion of Pekopon (Earth) are frequently interrupted by Keroro's passion for Gundam models, this new musical adaptation aims to bring together both old and new generation fans of the series. The producers have already started sharing behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive content by opening a special TikTok account (Keromyu) for the musical. Keroro and his team may not have managed to take over the Earth yet, but they seem determined to conquer the theater stages in September 2026.
