Sgt. Frog Returns to the Big Screen After 16 Years: Exciting Details from the New Movie!

The invasion of Pekopon continues right where it left off! One of the most beloved comedy series in the anime world, Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunso), is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a massive project. The series' first feature-length film in 16 years, Shin Gekijoban Keroro Gunso: Fukkatsu shite Sokko Chikyu Metsubo no Kiki de Arimasu!, will hit theaters in Japan on June 26, 2026. The real news that has fans excited is the addition of popular names to the voice cast and a new version of the legendary opening song.
In the new film, one of Japan's most popular artists of recent times, Ano, and famous comedian Soshina will both be part of the voice cast and perform the film's opening song. Ano will voice a research robot that helps the main characters, while Soshina will bring to life a man possessed by a yokai in Shibuya. The duo stepped up to the microphone for "Mata Kaettekita Kero! to March", a new interpretation of the series' classic opening track "Kero! to March". Additionally, it was announced that famous comedian Shinobu Hasegawa has joined the cast as the film's narrator.
There are also very ambitious names behind the scenes of the film. Yuichi Fukuda, known for the live-action Gintama films, is serving as the supervising director and screenwriter. Fumitoshi Oizaki, the character designer of the original series, is in the director's chair.
