Shō 3 Ashibe QQ Goma-chan Voice Cast Expands: Ashibe's Parents Revealed!

As the countdown continues for Shō 3 Ashibe QQ Goma-chan, the latest installment in the beloved classic series, key additions to the voice cast have been announced. According to the official announcement, the roles of the main character Ashibe's parents will be voiced by industry veterans Kazuyuki Okitsu and Fumiko Orikasa. The production, which will meet audiences on April 12, will continue to focus on the daily life of Ashibe and his loyal friend, the baby seal Goma-chan.
This new series carries the legacy of the original Shōnen Ashibe manga, created by Hiromi Morishita and first serialized in Weekly Young Jump magazine in 1988. The "Shō 3" in the series title signifies that our hero, Ashibe, has now entered the third grade of elementary school. Following the first anime adaptation in 1991 and the popular 2016 series Shōnen Ashibe GO! GO! Goma-chan, this new production aims to reach both long-time fans and a new generation of viewers.
The new cast members are stars well-known in the anime world. Kazuyuki Okitsu, who will bring Ashibe's father to life, is remembered for his role as Jonathan Joestar in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series. Fumiko Orikasa, who takes on the role of the mother, is an artist with a wide vocal range, known for her roles as Rukia Kuchiki in Bleach and Riza Hawkeye in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The addition of these two names seems set to bring a fresh breath of air to the series' family dynamics.
Goma-chan is considered not just an anime character in Japan, but a pop culture icon. The unique sounds made by the baby seal and its warm friendship with Ashibe have offered a soothing (iyashikei) atmosphere to viewers for years. Shō 3 Ashibe QQ Goma-chan, which begins on April 12, is a candidate to be one of the sweetest productions of the spring season by combining this nostalgic vibe with modern animation techniques. Let's see what kind of new challenges and fun moments Ashibe will encounter in the third grade!
