Release Date of "Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You" Anime Set for July 9

The long-awaited anime adaptation of the popular manga series "Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You" (originally titled Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You) by Jinushi has finally announced its release date. According to the official announcement, the series will begin airing on Japanese television on July 9.
The released second main trailer offered fans new glimpses of the story and the first chance to hear the opening theme. The opening song is performed by the beloved Japanese music group Zutto Mayonaka de Ii no ni. (abbreviated as Zutomayo). The group's unique style perfectly matches the warm and intimate atmosphere of the series set in everyday life.
The series follows office worker Sasaki and a young woman named Yamada who works at a supermarket, as their paths cross during a smoking break behind the store. The ordinary yet sincere dialogues between the two reflect the loneliness and small joys of today's workers. The manga has been serialized in Monthly Comic Garden magazine since 2022 and is particularly noted for its realistic character designs.
Although the studio and director in charge of the anime adaptation have not been fully announced yet, the released trailers signal a high-quality production. It is worth noting that Jinushi previously drew the manga for the popular series "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You". The new series is expected to receive similar interest.
Starting July 9, new episodes of "Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You" will be released weekly. It is poised to be one of the most notable productions this summer for viewers who enjoy a calm and pleasant tone. Whether the series will be available on international streaming platforms will be clarified in the coming days.
