Snow Man Member Koji Mukai to Portray Old Osomatsu in Osomatsu-san Live-Action Film

The highly anticipated live-action film of the Osomatsu-san series, "Osomatsu-san: Humanity's Garbage Transformation Plan!!!!!?", has added another star to its cast. Koji Mukai, member of Japanese boy group Snow Man, will take on the role of "Old Osomatsu". The news reached fans via an official announcement from Natalie Comic.
The film is based on the modern remake Osomatsu-san anime, which began in 2015, of the classic work by renowned mangaka Akatsuka Fujio, "Osomatsu-kun". The series, which follows the adventures of six lazy and irresponsible twin brothers, became a huge phenomenon especially among young adult fans. The live-action adaptation was announced last year, with Yûichi Fukuda (of The Confidence Man JP series) set to direct.
The "Old Osomatsu" portrayed by Koji Mukai represents an aged version filled with regrets in the story. In his statement about the role, Mukai said, "Osomatsu-san is a very special series to me. I will do my best to deliver a performance that meets the fans' expectations." The Snow Man group has previously taken on voice-over and visual roles in productions such as "Shin Ultraman" and "Jujutsu Kaisen 0". Mukai's presence in this project seems to unite both J-Pop and anime fans.
Although the full cast has not yet been announced, rumors had previously circulated that other members of Snow Man would also be involved in the project. The production, announced as Osomatsu-san: Humanity's Garbage Transformation Plan!!!!!?, aims to bring the series' absurd comedy style to the big screen. Filming is expected to be completed this year, with a release in 2025. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see who will take on the roles of the other brothers.
