The Second Part of the Sound! Euphonium Final Movie Hits Theaters on September 11, 2026

The end of the road is in sight for the legendary series that blends music and drama, Sound! Euphonium (Hibike! Euphonium). Kyoto Animation has officially announced that the second half of the two-part film project that will crown the series' finale will be released in theaters in Japan on September 11, 2026. The new trailer and visual shared with the announcement provide emotional clues about the final great struggle of Kumiko Oumae and the Kitauji High School Concert Band.
Adapted from Ayano Takeda's popular novel series, Sound! Euphonium first hit screens in 2015 and quickly earned a special place in the anime world with both its visual quality and character depth. The "Final Chapter" story, which began after the third season aired in 2024, covers Kumiko's final year of high school and the heavy responsibilities she takes on as club president. This new film will bring the series' journey, which has been ongoing for over a decade, to a conclusion.
For fans of the series, this finale is not just the end of a story, but also a pinnacle of Kyoto Animation's meticulous craftsmanship. This two-part final film project will revisit the events of the third season with a cinematic language while also including new scenes and special performance sequences not featured in the television series. The core staff of the series, such as chief director Tatsuya Ishihara and screenwriter Jukki Hanada, are working on this farewell project with the goal of offering fans an unforgettable closing.
Ticket sales for the film, which will be released on September 11, have already begun to be planned in Japan. The first film of the series, Sound! Euphonium: The Final Movie Part 1, will meet audiences on April 24, 2026. The series, identified by Kumiko's line "and the next piece begins," will bid farewell to its audience by playing its final note after this two-film marathon. Fans will see whether Kitauji can reach its goal of a gold medal at the national competition in this grand finale.
